Swap Update--Can Everyone Be Done Photographing Swap Items By September 25th?

Okay, guys, I'm about done photographing my items. So far, there are 72 items and probably about 20 to go. Then I just have to get down the sizing and condition info and I'm ready to go. I know Becka is all ready to go and just waiting on all of us. Unless I hear that someone needs an extension to get it done, we can all post them on Thursday, September 25th and post our links in a post I'll create on the 24th so we can all find each other's swap stuff.

As soon as you post on the 25th, you can start claiming anyone else's posted stuff. If you missed out on the initial sign-up period and want to join the swap, you can go ahead and start collecting stuff you have for swap and follow the directions in this post. As long as you can be ready sometime on or around the 25th, you can still join.

What You Need to Include About Your Items
--Location (City, State)
--Cost to ship (cost can obviously be waived for anyone with whom you're swapping in person)
--Size and condition

You're welcome to include other information, like a numbering system, but that's totally up to you.

I've found that people are hesitant to claim things at first because they don't want to be greedy. That's fine, but I wholly encourage you to be greedy. If one person claims several things from one person, it's just easier for the person to send them. After the first claiming period dies down a bit, I'll do a reminder post so we can all go back and claim any items that we were more on the fence about.

  1. I'm not sure how much it would cost to ship things. I've basically never shipped anything before.

I think I should have time to get everything post in time though.

  2. If you're not sure, guess at the weight of the item and you can calculate shipping, say to NY, at USPS. We can always make estimates and agree to refund shipping if we figured too much.

  3. Question: If you are willing to pay for items, do you yourself have to participate in the swap?

  4. Mer, I don't have a problem with that as long as you wait until the second round so everyone who's actually posting items has a chance to post. At that point, that's totally between you and the person whose clothes you'd like, but I, personally, would welcome you to pick from my stuff. I just want it out!

  5. Hi there,

Sasha passed this link on to me. Mind if I join in?

  6. What do you mean by the "second round"? Sorry, I know I'm slow.

  7. By the second round I mean after everyone who's participating in the swap makes their first selections. People tend to be shy about taking everything they want at first. I chose after that because it means that everyone who is swapping has posted and selected. It wouldn't be fair to let other people claim before then because some people will be slower to claim because they're still busy getting their stuff posted. Don't worry, I'll do a post about how it's time for second round to encourage people to look again. That's when you can ask people about getting their stuff without swapping. Hope that cleared it up a bit!
